Highly Desired Tour Manager Skills

Successful tour managers have a remarkable skill set, that when combined creates a memorable, care-free and enjoyable tour for the guests.  I rely on the following skills to execute amazing tours!

  • Organization:  Check lists, confirmations and detailed preparation is key to highly organized tour execution.
  • Research:  Providing interesting and unique destination knowledge is critical to the success of my tours.
  • Problem Solving:  Relying on preparation and running through possible scenarios allows me to think quickly and act with responsibility and reason.
  • Energetic and Fun:  Let’s not forget that travelers are on tour to ENJOY!  I love to laugh, to share stories and to encourage those around me to participate and share as well.
  • Flexible:  Balancing traveler needs, vendor confirmations, destination highlights and driver collaboration requires the ability to shift focus to the most critical need and be able to quickly pick back up where I left off.
  • Caring:  I am there to serve the guest and provide unique touches to the tour by noticing and acting on small details, providing them with one on one care.
  • Public Speaking:  Sharing knowledge and informing travelers of destination highlights is exciting!  I enjoy the tour preview meetings and travel presentations where I can bring tour images to life for travelers.
  • Attention to Detail:  Contracts, agreements, rooming lists, luggage counts – every detail is double and triple-checked for accuracy!
  • Patient & Calm:  Understanding of the concerns travelers may express and having the experience to provide assurance, direction and empathy.
  • Decisive:  Adept at analyzing a situation and acting in a resourceful and intelligent way to resolve the issue.
  • Ethical:  Aware that I am the face and representation of the Tour Operator and conducting each tour in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner.
